http://www.archive.org/details/TomEnnisDearIrishBoy

I am thinking of remixing this song and using is as a soundtrack for a PC game I am making. Trouble is the creative commons license does not seem to mention soundtracks, only "derivative works". I am developing the game on a shoestring but would like to release it commercially, although I will happily release the soundtrack separately as CC.

I am based in the UK. Am I able to use this song, modified, as a soundtrack in a commercial project, and/or promotional trailers?

As far as I can tell, Jimbad, the piece is simply public domain, to do with as you please. I don't know exactly how the CC license figures in except as kind of an honor code not to pass it off as your own work. Certainly it fell into public domain long before the CC license was even conceived of.

Of course, I'm not a lawyer and can't even play one competently on the Internet. There are others here who know a heap more about copyright law than I do. This is just my horseback guess.
